If you’re anything like us, you’re probably feeling anxious and ready to get back outside and in the garage for projects after a long winter of cold and snow. Unfortunately, this also means you’ll probably have to do some cleaning and organizing in your garage before you can really get started, especially if you parked your car there after big snows.
If you’ve browsed our website or follow us on Facebook, you may have seen pictures of the wide variety of chip blends we use on our floor coatings. Garage floors are the one area of a home that might seem the same as everyone else’s, but they don’t have to be!
2017 was an exciting year My Gorilla Garage. We had a great time attending local fairs and events, starting new projects and expanding the My Gorilla Garage Family at our newest location in Sarasota, Florida. We are always ready to take on a new home and adapt to each of our client’s individual personalities and styles! With the new year just around the corner, let’s review some of our favorite trends and projects of 2017:
During the later fall and winter months, we tend to spend less time outside and in our garages because of the cold weather. However, there is no need to put off project or leave your garage as just a storage space because of the weather! Your garage can easily transform into the perfect winter workshop and hang out spot, and even save you time during snow days! Here are a few ways to get the most out of your garage this winter:
One question we are asked more than any other is, “Is My Gorilla Garage just for garage floors?” The short and simple answer is “no,” but as demonstrated in our 1-day process for installation, we like attention to detail. My Gorilla Garage works for a number of spaces, and our experienced technicians will help you decide where it will work best, and make it look great. Here are a few ideas of other areas to use My Gorilla Garage:
As Hurricane Irma bears down on Florida we want to share some hurricane preparation resources for Sarasota area homeowners:
- Sarasota Department of Health Hurricane Prep Website
- City of Sarasota Emergency Management
- University of Florida Hurricane Resources
Please take appropriate preparations and be safe. Remember, no physical structure, car, etc. is worth endangering your life, or the lives of others.
After a summer of home projects, car maintenance, gardening and family fun, your garage may be disorganized and messy. As the weather cools, you’ll want to start using your garage for storage and as a space for projects when it becomes too cold to work outside. That feels impossible when you still have summer clutter around.
One of the questions we receive from customers and those who are interested in a garage floor coating is, “How long does the installation take, and when can I use my floor afterwards?”
First, the most asked part of that question: The My Gorilla Garage floor coating system is installed in just one day! Our exclusive one-day process is more than simply applying a coating. We perform a detailed moisture check of the concrete, then use diamond cutting machines to prepare the surface. Note, we do not use acid – we use a mechanical process to ensure the coating will bond correctly.
Since the My Gorilla Garage system is a polyaspartic polyurea coating, it actually absorbs into the concrete, so your garage is finished in just one day.
